Good driving roads in Palm Springs?

Going to be heading down to my parents vacation home on the 18th and I’m going to be there for the following week. Does anyone know of some good roads to drive around on while I’m there?

Just looked it up on maps looks like I could make a loop taking Hwy 10 then get off onto 243 then cut back into town on 74.

HWY 38 up to Big Bear is really nice and uncrowed corridor of huge pine trees. You can go over the top and come back down to palm springs or drive on the crest (hwy 18) westerly and come down to I-15 or San bernardino.

Yep, we did the reverse. Went 74 onto 243 and through Idyllwild back to Hwy 10.

If it were my choice though, I would have turned around at Idyllwild and went back the way we came. That section is that good.
